Maasai Pastoralists Development Organization (MPDO – LARETO) is a Non-governmental Organization that was formed in 2002 and formally registered in 2005 under the Ministry of Home Affairs with registration No. 13284. Its headquarters are based in Losimingori village was formed to to facilitate community development initiatives through capacity building and awareness creation in all sectors of development.

Meet international volunteers who help build the organization’s internal capacity

JUDI  BALDWN

Catalyste+ Advisor Judi Baldwin supported MPDO Lareto by helping strengthen their organizational strategic overview. She worked closely with the team to clarify roles, streamline processes, and create systems that support the organization’s day-to-day operations and long-term growth.

Through collaborative sessions and hands-on guidance, Judi encouraged reflection on how the team works together and explored ways to improve efficiency and coordination. Her contributions provided practical tools and insights to help the organization function more smoothly and confidently.

Her time with MPDO Lareto offered support and encouragement, helping the team feel more empowered in carrying out their mission.

ROBERT TYLER

Catalyste+ Advisor Robert Tyler supported MPDO Lareto in developing and refining their strategic plan. Working closely with the leadership team, he helped guide discussions on priorities, goals, and opportunities for the organization’s future.

Through collaborative workshops and thoughtful conversations, Robert encouraged the team to reflect on their strengths and explore new ways to build on their impact. His approach helped bring clarity to the organization’s vision while strengthening alignment within the team.

His time with MPDO Lareto contributed valuable perspective and practical tools to help the organization continue moving forward with confidence.

LYNNE  BRENNAN

Catalyste+ Advisor Lyne supported MPDO Lareto in developing and strengthening their gender policy. She worked closely with the team to explore inclusive practices, identify opportunities for greater equity, and create guidelines that foster a more balanced and respectful organizational culture.

Through collaborative discussions and practical recommendations, Lyne encouraged the team to consider diverse perspectives and integrate gender-sensitive approaches into their work. Her guidance offered clarity and direction for the organization’s ongoing efforts toward inclusivity.

Her time with MPDO Lareto brought encouragement and fresh ideas, helping the team weave gender considerations thoughtfully into their programs and daily operations.

UGO MONTECONE

Catalyste+ Advisor Ugo Monticone from CANADA supported MPDO Lareto by helping improve their website and social media strategy. During his assignment, he also worked alongside the organization’s IT lead, sharing knowledge and coaching to help strengthen her skills and impact within the team.

Ugo spent time in the community as well, capturing stories and images that highlight the organization’s work and the people behind it. From visiting schools and women-led beekeeping projects to even trying on traditional Maasai attire, he embraced the experience and the spirit of MPDO.

His time with the team brought fresh ideas and encouragement, while helping share their mission with a wider audience.

ABIGAI  RYAN

University of Florida graduate student Abigail Ryan supported MPDO Lareto with external evaluations and monitoring their beekeeping initiatives. She worked closely with the team to explore how the initiative was implemented and current progress.

Through collaborative discussions and practical recommendations, Abigail helped with funding grant applications and created visual aids highlighting project success and challenges
