Livestock raising and herding has always been a mainstay of the Maasai culture and economy. Given climate change and the growing demand for land for agriculture and development, this way of life is starting to disappear.

A significant increase in unsustainable practices such as deforestation for the production of charcoal also contributes to this problem.

In this strategic area, MPDO-LARETO works closely with Maasai communities on grazing rotation and climate change adaptation training and tree nurseries.
